September 2002.
Since our trip south in April, concern about our EVC’s
transmission kept us close to home. Eventually the urge to go
exploring overcame our concerns and we headed south. The trip was
great, but the van’s problems persisted, and during the trip we
made a decision to sell the van. This was to be our last trip in
the EuroVan Camper

We visiting many of our favourite places this trip, and added a
few new ones. |
We
visited three National parks. One we’ve visited before, Zion. Two
we visited for the first time. There was Whiskeytown, in the Trinity
Mountains, and Lassen Volcanic in the mountains east of Redding CA.
Both rate a return visit, maybe next year. |

It was
very warm in Reno so we headed towards the coast, ending up at the
Petaluma KOA.
It was here that we met a
couple we knew from our old home town in Ontario. We hadn't seen
them for many years. It is a small world.

After several enjoyable days at Petaluma, we
started south once more. Our goal was to spend some time in the
Chula Vista KOA and explore more of San Diego

From
Chula Vista we headed for Las Vegas. We camped in another concrete
campground at the Silverton Casino. On the plus side, it was just a
short walk to the Casino and they had a shuttle into the strip

The
last time we will camp in our EuroVan at one of our favourite
campgrounds, the KOA at Chula Vista. |
For our return to Vancouver Island, we decided to follow I-15 North
from Las Vegas. This route took us through some great country. We
visited Salt Lake city and a railway museum along the way.
