Our Chianti Red

In
October, 2002, we brought our new Honda CR-V home. After several short
trips on Vancouver Island, we started planning our first real
adventure.
|
.
For
our first major trip, we decided to explore the California coast south of San Francisco, then head inland at San Diego.
Some
of the trip highlights are illustrated in the following pictures, which are not in any particular order.

It was
a windy and cloud filled day when we traveled south down the
Monterey Peninsula and Highway 1. |
The
Highway seems to cling to the edge of California. |
No trip down the coast would be complete without a visit to the Hurst
Castle.
To the
left is the view from below,
and to
the right the view of the coastline from the Castle courtyard.

We
spent a couple days at one of our favourite campgrounds, the KOA in
Chula Vista. From here we explored more of the San Diego area.
Among some of the place we visited were the San Diego Maritime
Museum, and the model railway museum in Balboa Park |

From San Diego, we went east, spent a few days in Las Vegas. Lots to
see and do in
Las
Vegas. One of the more spectacular sights in Las Vegas is the
Freemont Street Experience.
Freemont street puts on a sound and light show every hour on the
hour. The entire street is covered by a canopy of animated lights
and coordinated sound that create a new show every hour.
In
the lobby of the Bellagio Casino is a large glass horse.
